The US Forecast Centre can give accurate hurricane warnings. This is because it collects much information in many ways. As a result of warnings, very few people died in Hurricane Andrew. By contrast, the 1970 hurricane in East Pakistan was the world's worst killer. This is mainly because people couldn't escape. As a result a million people died.
